Japanese style wedding ceremony at Itsukusima Shrine

If you are really lucky, you can see a Japanese-style wedding ceremony at the main hall of Itsukusima Shr-ine.

A bride wear Furisode(long sleeves Kimono that is wore unmarried woman) and Uchikake(wearing over a bride's
Kimono and obi). A groom wearing Kimono which is formal Japanese wear and is dyed family crest and Haori(half
length Japanese coat), Hakama(long pleated skirt worn over a kimono). Then they are held the Sansankudo (the
sipping of sake three times each by a bride and groom from a set of three cups) in front ofthe Goddess to pledge
their marriage each other. ..

My daughter held her wedding ceremony at Itsukushima Shrine and of course my wife and I took part in the
ceremony as a parent. After ceremony they took some commemorative photos around the Butai (the stage in front of the main hall). You can look closely a bride and a groom and the Japanese traditional wear at the time.
The pic bellow is my dauther and her husband. They are spending very happy life by the grace of Goddess.

Wedding ceremonies take place twice almost every day, but there's nothing it when there are something shrine's functions. It starts from 10:00,12:30,14:30, but twice out of these three. It becomes really popular and it said to be fully booked this year. ..

Foreigner can hold wedding ceremony at Itsukushima Shrine, but you have to wear Japanese traditional formal kimono, and follow Shinto-style manners if you have an another religion. ..

It costs 100,000yen, but not contain any other expenses, for example taking commemorative photos, dressing and making up also wedding reception. You have to resolve these things by yourself. It's one of the good way to ask them to some hotel in Miyajima. There're some professional stuffs in a hotel, and they can coordinate well all of things except wedding ceremony. My daughter held the wedding reception at the Iwaso Hotel (an oldest
Japanese-style ryokan-hotel). .

One more thing, if you want to see the Bugaku(Japanese old-style dance from Muromachi era, and it's performed on
the Takabutai in front of main hall) with Gagaku(Japanese traditional orchestra), you can ask it to Itsukushima Shrine. It costs 100,000 yen. .
